Recently, a post on the Korean social media platform Pan discussed the changes in LE SSERAFIM leader Kim Chaeyeon’s appearance over the past few years, accusing her of having breast augmentation surgery.
In the original post, which was quickly deleted, anetizen presented a series of photos of Chaeyeon during her training and promotions as a member of IZ*ONE, comparing them to her current appearance. According to the user, Chaeyeon had undergone breast augmentation.

Meanwhile, Chaeyeon (25 years old) comes from an artistic family; her mother is the stage actress Lee Ran-hee. She first joined Woollim Entertainment and trained for 11 months before participating in the survival program “Produce 48” in 2018. She finished in tenth place and debuted with IZ*ONE as a lead vocalist and lead dancer.
After IZ*ONE disbanded in 2021 due to contract expiration, Chaeyeon and her former bandmate, Sakura Miyawaki, signed with Hype Entertainment’s Source Music. She debuted with LE SSERAFIM as the group’s leader in May 2022.
Netizens reacted to the article, pointing out how Koreans have been responding to the rumors about Chaeyeon allegedly getting breast augmentation surgery:
- “It’s not like she’s hiding it; she has a scar that’s rarely covered with makeup. Anyway, the intent behind this post is rather disgusting…”
- “I remember reading that a plastic surgeon said breast augmentation is very common among celebrities (and probably actresses too). Almost everyone gets it done. They have to be extremely thin, so they have almost no fat left, and adding even a small amount through a plastic surgeon makes a huge difference.”
- “I had an amazing breast augmentation, so to speak. I loved the final result.”
- “Why are the commenters on this article acting like it’s blasphemy? LOL”
- “Korea has a strange relationship with breasts.”
- “It’s ironic that some people are against this, but they don’t mind a complete facial reconstruction, including removing parts of the bone.”
- “People are so quiet about this… Should we hold a press conference? Should we invite Bella Hadid?”
What do you think?
