SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi shade BTS’s performance at 2019 MAMA?

Seventeen’s Hoshi recently sparked widespread controversy on social media after liking a comment about his group’s performance at the 2019 MAMA, a year in which BTS swept all categories with the Daesang (Grand Prize) award.

The original video shared a video of Seventeen’s performance at the 2019 MAMA Awards, with the caption: “Never forget SVT’s ‘successful’ performance at the 2019 MAMA Awards, right after they lost the Best Dance Performance award. BTS won Best Dance Performance – Male Group for their song ‘BOY WITH LUV.’

Hoshi liked the Instagram post, which ARMYs interpreted as an indirect criticism or criticism of BTS and as support for the malicious comments under the post.

Carats, on the other hand, defended Hoshi, suggesting that his likes may have been an appreciation for the performance, especially since Hoshi has repeatedly acknowledged BTS’s contributions to Seventeen and K-pop during his appearance on Suga’s talk show. That same day, Hoshi praised BTS’s live performances and how the idea of incorporating dancers into the mix contributed to the success of the show. Backstage performances have raised the bar for K-pop shows.

“You were the first to start performing on stage with multiple dancers, and you made the stage truly dazzling. Now everyone is doing it. We wanted to do the same, too, and put on a show with dancers. The truth is, we want to be the best, just like BTS.”

This attempt did little to alleviate the controversy, and Hoshi’s admiration quickly sparked a public war between BTS fans (ARMY) and Seventeen fans (Carat). Hoshi was accused of downplaying BTS’s win and trying to make it seem like they deserved it.

An ARMY criticized Hoshi’s behavior: “Seventeen’s Hoshi loved Real shading BTS. What a snake. You want us to believe that idols don’t feel bitter about their success lol.”

Another recalled seungkwan’s comment “”Warning: Excessive drinking can cause stroke, memory damage, or dementia. Drinking during pregnancy increases the risk of having a deformed baby. A little bit of everything.” Which was considered a misrepresentation of BTS member Suga’s drunk driving incident, saying, “Mention this—this isn’t the first time SVT has done this. The timing of this post, or the shading of Suga? It clearly shows how SVT always pretends to be friends with BTS.”

A fan added: “This isn’t the first time Seventeen has done this They haven’t forgotten about it for 6 years and have been worried about it.”

An Army, on the other hand, praised BTS’s behavior: “One thing about BTS is that you won’t see them bitter toward any Kpop group.”
