RIIZE Accused of Copying SEVENTEEN’s SVT GOSE

Netizens have accused K-pop group RIIZE of copying SEVENTEEN’s popular show SVT GOSE after the release of a new episode of RIIZE’s variety program, WE RIIZR, titled “RIIZE in Court.” The episode featured a courtroom trial concept, which drew comparisons to similar themes previously showcased in SVT GOSE.

Fans of SEVENTEEN expressed disappointment, claiming SM Entertainment reused and replicated concepts from the well-loved SEVENTEEN show. Critics accused SM Entertainment of habitually borrowing ideas from SEVENTEEN without acknowledgment.

Meanwhile, RIIZE fans defended the group, arguing that courtroom trial concepts are not exclusive to SEVENTEEN. They cited other SM groups like Girls’ Generation (SNSD) as having used similar ideas in the past.

The controversy spilled into online forums, where fans and casual observers debated the issue:

  • Supporters of SEVENTEEN shared frustration, saying:”How can SM copy content without giving credit? If the situation were reversed, RIIZE would face endless harassment.”
“Copying SVT GOSE without acknowledgment? This is shameful. Don’t replicate other artists’ work!”
  • RIIZE fans and others argued that the concept is not unique, stating:”Courtroom themes have been in K-pop forever; SEVENTEEN didn’t invent them. Leave RIIZE alone.”
“The SNSD courtroom format is distinct from RIIZE or SEVENTEEN. Let’s not conflate unrelated concepts.”
  • Criticism of SM Entertainment’s creativity:”SM Entertainment fails to understand that it’s not just about the theme. The success of SVT GOSE lies in SEVENTEEN’s genuine humor, presence, and personality.”
“Going Seventeen is loved because its production team respects originality and always gives proper credit. SM should learn from them.”
  • Broader accusations of recycling content:”This isn’t the first time SM has done this. It’s getting tiresome.”
“RIIZE’s episodes are too similar to SVT GOSE. Even the Going Ego episode has a counterpart in WE RIIZR. Why can’t SM be more original?

While the controversy continues, many fans clarified that their criticism isn’t directed at RIIZE but at SM Entertainment’s creative team. They called for more originality in future productions, emphasizing the need to respect other artists’ work.

Despite the heated debate, RIIZE’s supporters hope the group can shine on their own merit, free from allegations of imitation, while SEVENTEEN fans continue to celebrate the originality and charm of Going Seventeen, a show that remains a benchmark in K-pop entertainment.
