Looking back, I was always clumsy and made many mistakes. I felt it would be better not to do it, I felt so much regret that I had to work harder. I started talking about the idea of what it would be like if I got a second chance or if I could meet that person again and get a chance to do things I couldn’t do again.e
Our beloved summer is the story of Kook Eun-soo (Kim Da-mi) and Choi Wong (Choi Woo-sik), who have been dating since they were 19 years old, and meet again after five years of separation. Eunseok , who ranked first in the entire school, and Woong, who ranked last in the whole school, become close when they become the main characters in a documentary in their third year of high school. The two, who had been quarreling with opposing personalities, eventually fell in love with each other and broke up after a muddy affair. Then, when they turned 29, an offer was made to follow up on a documentary film shot 10 years earlier. After two weeks of airing, dramas dealing with the stories they experienced rose to the top of the Korean drama category on Netflix, and then entered the top ten in dramas around the world.
The work oscillates between fantasy and reality. The setting itself is somewhat unreal, with first place in the complete school and the last after the two loving classmates meet by chance again. However, the choices of the heroes and the expressions on their faces in the face of their situations are very realistic. The main characters are rather calm when they express their feelings “My life would not have been destroyed without you”, and a family destroyed by debtors. And a former lover met her after 5 years and uttered harsh words. He told me, “When there’s a lot of emotional turmoil or when I’m in a difficult situation, my character in trying to get past the situation by pushing myself too hard is also reflected in the characters.”
Choi Wong is a fantasy lover who focuses only on the other person and expresses love passionately. On the other hand, Kwok Yun-soo is a real-life lover who is concerned about her fare and says, “I’d hate for my boyfriend to go out to take me somewhere I can go on my own.” The writer said, “Yeonsoo is the person I had a romantic relationship with. She couldn’t say what she wanted to say and acted clumsily, leaving regret and remorse. Woong was created with the idea of ‘I will do my best at that time.’ I expressed it by comparing it because it is a picture of The beloved whom I dreamed of pouring generously.
The writer, who has dealt with love between lovers in the web-drama Point of Omniscient Unrequited Love and Dating Attempt, made the Grand Prix drama as a love story in the first miniseries she’s written. The writer said: “I realized that I love stories while writing this work. Love is the driving force in my life. I became happy because of love, and when I experienced love, I looked at myself again.”
All the main characters in the drama have their flaws, such as not being loved by the family, not having enough money, or not having friends with whom to share their daily lives. The writer said: I believe that everyone has a deficiency, and there is a reason for every action. The drama was written with the idea of how to come to terms with wounds.” “I consider everyone to be someone’s observer. Ordinary people who are not photographed by broadcast station cameras also document each other with their eyes. I want you not to forget that there are not only difficult moments, but also people who silently give love. ”
