Comedian Lee Jin-ho, accused of ‘illegal gambling,’ caught driving under the influence for 100 km from Incheon to Yangpyeong
Comedian Lee Jin-ho, who is under investigation for illegal gambling, was caught driving under the influence for approximately 100 km and is being questioned by the police.
According to the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency on the 24th, the Yangpyeong Police Station arrested and is investigating Lee around 3 a.m. for driving under the influence from Incheon to Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province.
The police stated, “We received a report that Lee was driving under the influence in Incheon,” and after inter-regional coordinated investigation, he was caught in Yangpyeong. It was found that he was behind the wheel with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11%, which is at the level that warrants license cancellation.
The police temporarily sent Lee home and plan to conduct further investigation. At Lee’s request, a blood test was conducted to measure his blood alcohol concentration, and they are currently awaiting the results.
Lee, who debuted as an SBS special recruitment comedian in 2005, is currently under investigation for illegal gambling. Previously, in April, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul referred Lee to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on gambling charges. Lee also revealed on his Instagram that, “In 2020, by chance, I started playing games on an illegal online gambling site and ended up with debts that I could not manage.”
The controversy grew as it was reported that BTS’s Jimin and comedian Lee Soo-geun had lent money to Lee and suffered losses.
Korean netizens are demanding his expulsion from the industry. Read the comments:
- Now he’s living recklessly
- Rehabilitation impossible, what a pityㅠㅠ Look at Yang Se-hyung, owner of a 10-billion-won building… why did he get involved in gambling?
- Doing all kinds of things, still hasn’t come to his senses
- Drunk driving is truly the ultimate
- 20 years ago, he was a rookie comedian gaining attention on Laugh Factory, now he’s turned dark
- Should be expelled from civilized society
- No good ~ This guy!! His character is ruined
- No matter how hard it gets, hang in there
- Had talent… what a pity… now a comeback is impossible
- As expected, his face reveals everything…
- Total mess, very chaotic… If he does one more thing, he’ll hit triple crown. I wonder what’s next?
What a shame. Lee seemed to have a promising career, but his reckless behavior, like drunk driving and gambling, is inexcusable. Its a reminder that fame doesnt excuse poor choices.
Poor Lee! First gambling debts, now DWI. His careers been on a wild ride—like a comedy special gone horribly wrong. Hope he learns his lesson before his face becomes his only card left in the deck.ktekktekk!
