Lee Byung Hun and Son Ye Jin’s new korean movie ‘No Other Choice’

The first teaser trailer for director Park Chan-wook’s new movie ‘No Other Choice’ Starring Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin, has been released and is receiving explosive responses.

The teaser video and first poster released by CJ ENM on the 22nd heated up various online communities and SNS within a few hours of its release. Netizens expressed their expectations for early box office success, responding with comments such as “I couldn’t have predicted it at all”, “This is a gathering of acting geniuses”, and “Let’s go for 10 million.”

‘No Other Choice’ is the story of Man-soo (Lee Byung-hun), an ordinary office worker, who is suddenly fired from the company he has worked for for 25 years. Man-soo, who has lived a satisfactory life, enters a fierce competition for re-employment to protect his wife Mi-ri (Son Ye-jin), two children, and the house he worked hard to build.

Leading actors Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin, as well as Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, Cha Seung-won, and Yoo Yeon-seok, all appeared in the film, representing the Korean film industry. In particular, this is Lee Byung-hun’s first film with director Park Chan-wook in about 20 years since ‘Joint Security Area JSA’ and ‘Three, Monster’, and Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin are playing a married couple for the first time, drawing attention.

The teaser trailer released that day begins with Man-soo’s line, “In America, they say firing someone is like cutting an axe. Do you know what they call it in Korea? You’re a slut.” After that, Man-su’s desperation for re-employment and Mi-ri’s meaningful expression intersect, leaving a strong impression.

The video features characters with different stories, such as Seon-seon (Park Hee-soon), a paper company foreman, Beom-mo (Lee Sung-min), a veteran who desperately needs to be re-employed, A-ra (Yeom Hye-ran), and Si-jo (Cha Seung-won), a powerful figure in the industry, stimulating viewers’ curiosity.

The first poster released together places each character against the background of a banyan tree. Man-su’s family and dog struggling to get re-employed, as well as Seon-seon, who is relaxed, Beom-mo looking at documents, A-ra enjoying a picnic, and Si-jo holding shoes are all featured here and there.

In particular, the contrast between Mansu’s solemn expression standing in front of the house and his happy past self dancing among the flower petals amplified curiosity about the unpredictable situation that will unfold after the layoff.
