Singer and entertainer Kim Jong-kook announced his marriage on the SBS entertainment show “Running Man.”
On the 18th, an SBS representative told Ilgan Sports, “Kim Jong-kook personally announced his marriage during the opening of today’s ‘Running Man’ recording. The broadcast is scheduled to air in August.”
On the 18th, Kim Jong-kook posted a handwritten letter on his fan cafe, “Papitus,” saying, “I’m getting married.” In the letter, he announced plans for a small wedding ceremony in the near future, inviting only family, relatives, and close friends.
The specific wedding date has not been set. When Ilgan Sports inquired about the wedding, a representative for Kim Jong-kook stated, “The wedding hasn’t been decided yet. Kim Jong-kook himself dislikes formality, so it seems he won’t be holding a grand ceremony.”
In the letter, Kim Jong-kook said, “I’ve always prepared myself that one day I’ll write and post something like this, but actually preparing it makes me more nervous and anxious than I ever imagined.” He added, “I’ve said I’ll reveal it little by little, but I think many people will still feel it’s a bit sudden.”
He continued, “This year marks my 30th debut anniversary, but I haven’t made the album I wanted to, only half of myself. Still, I hope you’ll congratulate me and support me. It’s a bit late, but I’m so glad I’m finally here. I’ll do my best to live well.”
Finally, Kim Jong-kook added, “Thanks to my fans, who have always been a great support for me, I’ve gotten married and am taking on new challenges in life. I will work even harder and live more diligently.”
The guests that day were actors Jang Dong-yoon and Kim Ah-young. During the filming of the opening, Kim Jong-kook hesitated, saying he had something to say, and then confessed that he was getting married.
The “Running Man” cast and guests, who had not known about Kim Jong-kook’s marriage, were all surprised and initially thought it was a “surprise camera” trick, but they soon realized it was real and congratulated him.
