Jungkook Viral Video Sparks Debate: Real Footage or AI?

Recently, a viral video claiming to show BTS member Jungkook has circulated, depicting the idol walking side by side with a woman, holding her hand on the street leading to his home. In the clip, the pair are seen standing in front of his old home’s door before Jungkook gently pulls the woman inside.

The video, which spread widely across social media, sparked major controversy, especially with ongoing analyses and speculation about its authenticity. Some anti-fans accused the creation and distribution of the video as an attempt to tarnish Jungkook’s reputation.

Conversely, some Netizens confirmed that the original version is not fake and shows no signs of being AI-generated, noting that AI-generated copies were created later by fans to mislead others.

One Internet user commented: “They insist they recreated the video using AI, but this time they claim two men appear in it. That’s also false. The video with the two men was also filmed by a sasaeng, Jungkook’s neighbor. Many people live in that apartment complex alongside Jungkook, and what you see there is the building entrance.”

The same user affirmed the video’s authenticity, explaining: “They claim the video isn’t real because there’s no drainage system, but in reality, there is one at this location… Jungkook mentioned in the past that sasaengs were outside his home.”

The user also shared how they inferred Jungkook might be in a relationship from his live streams: “As an ARMY, I remember thinking Jungkook had a girlfriend when I watched his live broadcast, because he sometimes looked at the horizon as if someone else were in the room.”

He concluded by calling for an official statement from Jungkook and HYBE to prevent further rumors: “Regardless of what happened between Jungkook and BigHit in the past, I hope they speak honestly. Please, don’t lie. We will accept the truth. Perhaps Jungkook is still dating that woman and lied to protect her. But now he must tell the truth. Only then will people stop spreading rumors about Jungkook. Otherwise, this wave of gossip will not end, and we will lose more fans.”

Netizens’ views varied regarding the video’s authenticity. Some considered it fake, claiming the original video of Jungkook returning home alone was used to generate a second version with the woman: “You’ll be reported because spreading AI deepfakes is a serious crime: fines up to 50 million won, and prison up to seven years. Even without a lawsuit, distributing illegal footage or deepfakes is criminally punishable, so be prepared. Cyber reports are increasing now under the Telecommunications Act regarding illegal filming — if you’re confident, go ahead, but reports are numerous currently.”

Meanwhile, others commented on the post, affirming the video’s authenticity and pointing to Jungkook’s alleged relationship with Winter from aespa, while accusing some of his fans of attempting to tarnish the members’ reputations after the videos spread:“BTS should disband quickly, even because of Jungkook’s fans! The level of crimes these people commit is extreme, a serious online concern. Is it reasonable that the members have suffered like this for over ten years? HYBE does nothing but watch. How long must they continue obsessing over Jimin, fabricating rumors and lies?”
