Over the past few years, BTS members have faced a series of violations and harassment on social media platforms and Korean online communities, including the break-in at Jungkook’s home, Taehyung being cornered in an elevator, and waves of hate and defamation targeting Suga, Jimin, and RM. On September 29, BIGHIT MUSIC surprised fans by releasing an update on its legal actions against these malicious activities.
In its statement, the agency confirmed it has expanded its monitoring and legal measures, explaining: “This quarter, we initiated legal action against the authors of malicious posts identified through valuable reports from fans and our monitoring of Korean online communities (Naver, Daum ‘Women’s Generation, Jjukbbang Cafe, SoulDresser,’ among others, Nate, TheQoo, Dmitory, several ‘galleries’ on DC Inside such as BTS Gallery, Male Celebrities Gallery, Domestic Entertainment Gallery, as well as Instiz, Ilgan Best, FMKorea, etc.), music sites (Melon, Bugs, Genie Music), and international social media platforms (X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).”
The agency also stated that some of the criminal complaints filed last year were forwarded to the prosecution in July with a recommendation for indictment. Investigations into the cases filed this year are ongoing, with suspects being summoned for questioning, in some cases through the execution of warrants.
The statement highlighted the break-in incidents at Jungkook’s home, confirming that BIGHIT is actively cooperating with authorities to ensure a thorough investigation. This includes filing police reports, submitting evidence, and written opinions. Several of these cases have already been forwarded to the prosecution, with the agency vowing to ensure the perpetrators face the harshest possible legal consequences.
The agency further issued a stern warning: “Any act of visiting or loitering near an artist’s private residence, watching from outside, leaking personal information, or any other action that violates the artist’s privacy is not only a criminal offense under trespassing and stalking laws but also an illegal act that causes severe distress and anxiety to the victim. To foster a safe and healthy fan culture, we sincerely ask that you respect the privacy and safety of our artists.”
In conclusion, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting BTS members through every possible legal means, while expressing deep gratitude for the love and support shown by fans worldwide
