On October 6, news from the industry spread about BLACKPINK’s Jisoo collaborating with former One Direction member Zayn on a new song.
On Monday, Jisoo of BLACKPINK unveiled an enigmatic teaser that alluded to the release of a surprise single called “Eyes Closed.” Her collaborator’s silhouette appears in the social media photo, implying a duet.
A music industry source claims that Zayn Malik, a former member of One Direction, is the partner.
Jisoo is shown in the teaser standing in the foreground, with a man standing behind her with his back to the camera. His name is concealed, but he looks a lot like the British singer-songwriter.
A source in the music industry told, “Jisoo will release a new duet song with Zayn sometime this month.” The source did not provide further details about the collaboration but hinted that the British pop icon may have been invited to BLACKPINK’s recent concert in New York for a reason.
On July 27, Zayn was photographed with his daughter Khai at BLACKPINK’s performance in New York. He shared a picture of himself and Khai in the crowd, both of them waving their fists in the air, on Instagram shortly after the performance. The caption read, “@BLACKPINKOFFICIAL THANK YOU :)” KHAI and I adored it.
Currently, Jisoo is in the midst of BLACKPINK’s “Deadline” world tour, which started in Seoul in July. After the August 15–16 performances in London, she will have a brief vacation before continuing the tour on October 18 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The forthcoming single will mark Jisoo’s first musical release since the February release of her solo mini album “Amortage,” which featured the songs “Earthquake,” “Your Love,” “Tears,” and “Hugs & Kisses.”
As a member of One Direction, one of the best-selling boy bands in the world, Zayn gained international recognition. He left the group in March 2015 and has continued to pursue a solo career.
