This is a meeting of two popular actors. Han So-hee will be starring alongside Byun Woo-seok.
According to Sports Kyunghyang on the 29th, Han So-hee will be starring in the Netflix series “Solo Leveling,”alongside Byun Woo-seok.
“Solo Leveling” is based on the webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of Sung Jin-woo, a “Class E Hunter” known as the weakest of the “Hunters” who protect the real world from monsters beyond the gate, awakening from a near-death experience and leveling up to become the “strongest Hunter” who can save the world.
The drama adaptation was announced in January, and Byun Woo-seok, who rose to stardom with his role in tvN’s “Seonjae and Run,” has already been cast as the lead role of Sung Jin-woo. Casting for other roles is also underway.
The fact that Han So-hee has been cast as the lead actress has heightened expectations. Han So-hee, who has previously demonstrated her skillful action acting in Netflix series like “My Name” and “Gyeongseong Creature,” is expected to play Cha Hae-in, Korea’s only top-tier hunter, a character popular among fans of the original series.
The original webtoon has garnered 14.3 billion cumulative views, gaining global popularity, and the live-action adaptation is garnering significant attention. Directors Lee Hae-joon and Kim Byung-seo, who previously collaborated on the film “Ashfall,” are directing the drama, produced by Kakao Entertainment and Sanai Pictures producing.
The addition of Byun Woo-seok and Han So-hee, both beloved actors in diverse genres, has raised expectations for the upcoming drama.
Korean Netizens React:
- Female lead? That’s actually such a good match, the visuals really work. The original is so much fun and both of them fit the image perfectly. Hopefully Netflix invests properly because the anime is already huge overseas.
- Even if her role isn’t that big, it feels like the right choice. There’s a lot of international buzz already, so I just hope Netflix pulls it off well. Han So-hee really needs to keep grinding.
- I wonder if they’ll change things around. In the webtoon the female characters barely have screentime.
- She looked great even in that Giordano ad, so I’m actually looking forward to this.
- The role might not be huge, but it’s the kind of character worth including. Honestly, she fits Cha Hae-in perfectly.
- Way too fitting, seriously.
- Since the whole story is centered on the male lead, it’s impossible to turn it into some “two-top” dynamic. She’s basically just one of the female characters. Still, because it’s Netflix and such a big title overseas, even with limited screentime the overall casting will probably turn out solid.
- Feels like another flop coming after Omniscient Reader.
- If the CG is solid, it’ll be fine.
- I just saw Solo Leveling on TV and then came across this article. The CG though… honestly, it already has me sighing. Sure, Netflix has the budget, but since everything needs to be CG, can they really pull it off? Did they not learn anything from Omniscient Reader’s live-action? For real?
Meanwhile, Han So-hee is currently embarking on her first fan meeting world tour, “Xohee Loved Ones.”
