Bts’ Instagram has suspended the comment section after RM angered Chinese netizens. Because RM’s personal Instagram commenting function has always been disabled. Netizens have taken their anger to Bts’ official Instagram account.
On February 9, Big Hit Music decided to disable the commenting function on BTS’ official Instagram account in a bid to end the war between Chinese netizens, ARMY BTS. The group’s official account has been attacked since Monday by Chinese netizens who posted malicious comments along with annoying emojis on the latest posts with RM’s photos. The reason for this fierce attack is that BTS leader RM posted a message to encourage an korean Olympic athlete on his Instagram account at the Olympics. RM’s post, which he shared on Monday, was an Instagram Story. Which shows a clip of short track speed skater Hwang Dae-hyun taking first place in the 1000 m semi-finals at the Beijing Olympics. RM also added two emojis with the clip, one clapping and the other showing a thumbs up.
However, the race became controversial and Koreans were angered by the Chinese’s treatment of the Koreans. Despite coming first, Korean skater Hwang was disqualified for contacting a Chinese athlete when the Chinese figure skater appeared to push Hwang as well. The Chinese skater was not punished.
While the ARMY did not remain silent on these abuses against the leader of their favorite squad. They had already begun their revenge by posting many Purple Hearts to stifle the hateful comments. The color purple represents the fan base of BTS and the group. The post received more than 25,000 comments before the agency disabled the comment feature.
The war has not yet moved to other platforms. Korean netizens also responded to ARMYs’ reaction.

- I support RM, I’m proud that you’re Korean!
- I went to their official account and the comments were soaked in purple hearts ㅋㅋ I don’t think we should be too worried… there might be many cockroaches,, but they can’t mess with BTS
