BTS Criticized For ‘Losing Sense of Urgency’ After Military Discharge

Regarding BTS‘s comeback, a post on the Korean forum “Pan” expressed frustration with the group’s delayed comeback, noting the need to expedite their public appearance, especially after a hiatus of more than three years. Some also accused the group of losing what they called their “sense of urgency” and of living without a clear plan for the group’s comeback.

The original post read: “This is what disappoints me. It has nothing to do with their interaction with fans. It’s okay if something comes from their hard work, but they don’t seem to be putting in much effort.”

The user also mentioned how the members seem to be indifferent to fans’ feelings after such a long hiatus: “Time flies. Considering their long hiatus and their age, fans are anxious, but the members seem comfortable, living their lives as they please.”

The post’s author also strongly criticized the group’s agency, accusing them of merely exploiting BTS, saying: “If they had started a solid plan after their discharge, there wouldn’t have been any content. But the truth is, there is no plan.” Big Hit Entertainment is exploiting BTS with all its might and planning to get rid of them, so they don’t care when they’ll make a comeback. They’ve left them without any preparation.”

Netizens’ reactions were mixed, with some supporting the original post, believing the band isn’t making an effort to prove their seriousness. One wrote, “I’m not sure about the rest of the claims, but I agree they don’t feel any urgency or urgency. If I were in their shoes, after the COVID pandemic and the military hiatus, I would make sure to make appearances at least 3 or 4 times a week to reassure fans.”

In response, many fans harshly criticized the original post, noting that the group is already working hard. They cited RM’s recent message, as well as the statement released by Big Hit Music and leaked images from the group’s first post since their discharge on July 1, confirming a spring 2026 album release alongside a reunion tour.

While some criticized the original post for rushing the group’s comeback, since they pointed out that they had only been discharged from the military for two months, a harsh experience, saying, “Some people really think the military is just a place to rest and return, right? Seriously, it’sa difficult period that changes your entire outlook on life.”

The commenter explained that the members are working on producing new music for fans by holding a music camp to gather creative ideas. He emphasized the need to give the members time for this creative journey, which has taken several years.

Finally, he urged fans to stop rushing and annoying the members, saying, “If you truly care about the members, how can you say things like this? A sense of urgency? Huh… What kind of rush are you talking about? Do you expect them to risk a performance crisis just to please you? They’ve just returned from the military and are trying to rest and develop their artistic skills and emotions. Even so, knowing their personalities, they probably won’t truly rest. Just trust them a little.”

Separately, Big Hit Music’s statement confirmed the band’s comeback in March 2026 with a full album that will reflect the thoughts of all members, exciting fans to discover the diverse musical styles of the band. The statement also mentioned a reunion tour, which the members have already begun working on.

Jimin, Jungkook, and Suga left for Los Angeles last July to work on the album’s production. They were later joined by Taehyung, RM, and J-Hope after performing at Lollapalooza Berlin. Jin was the last member to join the camp after completing his world tour.
