Kim Sae Ron and the Controversy That Caused Her to Take Her Life.
In May 2022, Kim crashed her car into a barrier, a street tree, and a transformer while driving drunk in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, causing a temporary power outage that affected nearby businesses and street lights.
Kim refused to take a breath test on-site and later requested a blood test, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.2 percent, a level that warrants license revocation. Kim was fined 20 million won for the incident.
Although she initially attempted to return to acting in May, she eventually pulled out due to public backlash. There were also reports that Kim had taken a part-time job at a cafe in Seongsu-dong following the incident.
