Actor Kim Min-seok (35) has reportedly lost his father. On the 5th, an entertainment media outlet reported that Kim Min-seok’s father passed away that day, aged 57.
According to the report, Kim Min-seok is reportedly preparing for his father’s funeral amidst grief. The funeral will be held at Pohang Citizen Funeral Home, and the funeral is scheduled for 8:30 AM on the 7th. The burial will be held at Pohang City Crematorium.
Kim Min-seok has opened up about his tragic family history on numerous broadcasts. On MBC’s “Radio Star,” he revealed that his mother left home after giving birth to him, and that he was raised by his grandmother instead of his father, who left for Pohang to earn money. Kim also revealed that he worked various part-time jobs, including courier service and lunchbox delivery, to support his grandmother, who was diagnosed with a disability.
Meanwhile, Kim Min-seok was born in Buk-gu, Busan in 1990. After moving to Seoul, he gained recognition through Mnet’s “Superstar K3” in 2011 and He began his acting career in 2012 with the drama “Shut Up, Flower Boy Band” and has since appeared in numerous works including “Who Are You – School 2015,” “Doctors,” and “Age of Youth 2.”
He gained widespread recognition for his role as Kim Ki-beom, a member of Yoo Si-jin’s unit, in “Descendants of the Sun.” His performance in “Doctors” earned him the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards and the Best New Actor Award in the TV category at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards, further solidifying his acting chops.
Kim Min-seok most recently starred in “Mr. Plankton” and “Shark: The Storm.” This year, he is currently filming the tvN drama “Typhoon Boss” alongside singer and actor Lee Jun-ho.
