On September 10, several accounts on X (formerly Twitter) shared what they claimed to be an official Thai police report, allegedly filed by a BTS fan against Blackpink member Lisa following her “Best K-Pop” win at the MTV Video Music Awards.
According to these accounts, the complainant believed Lisa’s award was undeserved, pointing out that she is Thai, all of the members of “Born Again” are non-Korean, and the song is in English and classified as a pop song, not K-pop.
These allegations sparked a wave of ridicule, with some netizens commenting:
- “Is this true? A police report just because your favorite lost to her? You guys are reaching new levels every day. It’s embarrassing.”
- “The concept of being Thai and reporting a country artist to the police just because your favorite Korean lost to her at the VMAs….”
- “These are the people who filed a police report against Lisa for winning a VMA. They’re so shameful.”
- “This is so ridiculous. A police report over a VMA win? What’s even weirder is that a Thai person is doing this for the Korean youth he admires. First, they’re using children to vote, and now this.”
- “A police report over a K-pop star winning an award? You’re reaching new levels every day. I’m embarrassed for others.”
But what is the truth behind this report against Lisa because of her VMA win?
However, an accurate translation of the circulated document revealed that the complaint was not against Lisa herself, but rather against certain Twitter and TikTok accounts for harassment and cyberbullying. The complaint reads:

One fan shared a clarification of the situation: “This is a report against certain Twitter users for cyberbullying and has nothing to do with Lisa. Are these idiots spreading misinformation like this?” Or are they just idiots who can’t read?” Another added: “This is a report against cyberbullying on X. And now fans of color always think it’s about transgender people, and they’re offended. What stupid behavior! Imagine how stupid they’d be to believe their misinformation.”
Despite this, some of Lisa’s fans accused the complainant of spreading false narratives. They revealed a previous post by the complainant claimed Lisa’s win came from sponsorship influence rather than voting, referencing MTV’s clause that the sponsor retains the right to determine winners:
- “Did you know they can also sue you for violating their privacy by making their accounts public? MTV can also sue you for spreading false information because you misinterpreted their rules.” Lisa’s company can also sue you for claiming she received a sponsorship for her win.
- “It seems that defending your favorite celebrity from defamation and lies is now cyberbullying. Knowing that all of this happened because that account was upset about Lisa’s win and started spreading misinformation.”
- “Hahaha, actually, that makes it a thousand times more embarrassing and funny.”
What do you think?
