With the announcement of the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominees, which included the “Best K-Pop” category, BTS fans, ARMY, were surprised by Vogue Thailand’s controversial and unprofessional behavior!
The Best K-Pop nominees included BTS’s Jimin for “WHO,” Lisa for “Born Again,” Jennie for “LIKE JENNIE,” and Rosé for “Toxic Tell The End.” Stray Kids also received nominations for “Chk Chk Boom” and aespa for “Whiplash.” Rosé also received notable nominations for her collaboration with Bruno Mars, “APT,” including Song of the Year, Video of the Year, and more, making her the most nominated K-Pop act of all time.
However, on August 6, Vogue Thailand’s official page on X published a tweet about BTS member Jimin’s nomination, accompanied by the controversial hashtag “VMAS_DISQUALIFY_JIMIN,” suggesting that the BTS member was not worthy of the nomination. Fans viewed this as offensive and unprofessional behavior that undermined his eligibility for the nomination.

Controversy quickly erupted, with the magazine accused of unprofessional reporting and insulting the BTS member. Some also shared the magazine’s previous articles and commentaries on BTS members, including Suga’s drunk driving incident and a controversial article about Jungkook.
Vogue Thailand Magazine Insults BTS Members
A netizen criticized the magazine’s unprofessional behavior and wrote:
“@VogueThailand’s actions against BTS:
In 2025: They used the hashtag #disqualify to express their hatred for Jimin and demand that he be banned from the VMAs.
Then they quietly deleted it and ignored it without apologizing. While they can apologize to other artists, they don’t do that with BTS.
In 2020: They wrote false news about Jungkook.
In 2024: They took an Allkpop article to attack Suga (Yoongi).

” @voguethailand — Dozens of wreaths appeared in front of HYBE’s headquarters to protest and demand that BTS member Suga withdraw from the group!
It has become an ongoing issue that seems unlikely to end easily. Allkpop reported that Suga, a member of BTS.bighitentertainment, who was previously arrested for driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol, faced protests from people who came to lay wreaths in front of the company’s building in Yongsan, Seoul. The protest messages explicitly demanded Suga’s departure from BTS, such as “Min Yoongi, leave the group immediately” and “You’re the one who let go first.” #VogueReports / From a report by @opor.peeranat “

The magazine also angered Jungkook’s fans with a provocative article:
“Fans Angry at Korean Media Over BTS’s Jungkook

The offensive tweet was removed from the magazine’s homepage a few hours later, but the apology came too late after intense fan pressure, which many considered insincere and controversial. The magazine confirmed in the article that what happened was “an unintentional mistake” and pledged to be more careful in the future.
Vogue Thailand apologizes to BTS’s Jimin
