Recently, an unidentified woman sparked widespread controversy on social media after claiming she was raped by three celebrities. She claimed that the men took advantage of her being drunk. According to reports, the case has been officially referred to court, triggered a wave of questions and reactions online.
The Kaohsiung District Court in Taiwan ruled that three men, A, B, and C, who were all well-known from variety shows, had organized a vacation to Lambai Island in 2021. A invited her to join them for games and drinks at a hotel after meeting the accuser, Xiao Wen (a pseudonym), on a dating app.
She became extremely drunk and passed out, according to Xiao Wen, who allegedly that the three men raped her nine times in four hours. Xiao Wen filed a civil lawsuit and a criminal complaint, requesting 1.8 million NTD (61,000 USD) in damages.
A, on the other hand, denied the charges, asserting that Xiao Wen was aware of their identities and had organized the hotel party, even purchasing beverages for them when they ran out.
According to A, Xiao Wen willingly engaged in oral intercourse with him, leaving traces of her DNA on his body, and felt at ease being nude in front of B and C. Additionally, he asserted that she twice approached him for unprotected intercourse. Furthermore, Xiao Wen is accused of asking B and C to have sex three and four times, respectively.
The court determined that her actions deviated from conventional trauma responses because she did not appear distressed or ask hotel workers for assistance. The court rejected her complaint because a medical examination and supporting documentation did not corroborate her allegation of rape.
After the victim filed an appeal, the Kaohsiung High Court upheld the initial decision, though further appeals may still be filed.
