On July 18, 2025, Netflix released Wall to Wall also known 84m², a Korean movie that’s both oppressive and realistic, starring Kang Ha Neul as Woo Sung. This man, in his thirties, finally manages to buy an apartment in Seoul after years of work and sacrifice.
He drained his savings, took out several high-interest loans, and even pledged his mother’s farmland as collateral. But barely had he moved in when his dream crumbled. An incessant noise coming from upstairs disrupted his daily life and triggered a series of tensions.
Woo Sung bet everything he had on a home in the Royal City Sileos Complex. He was counting on the future GTX train line, which was supposed to revitalize the neighborhood, to boost the apartment’s value. But in 2024, the project was suspended. This news shattered all his hopes.
Soon after, his downstairs neighbor begins leaving messages on his door. She accuses him of being too noisy, to the point of disrupting her children’s schoolwork. At first, Woo Sung ignores it, thinking it’s simply an exaggeration. But the complaints become more frequent, to the point of obsession.
Distraught, he goes to see Eun Hwa, the building’s secretary, who explains that the building’s structure can amplify sounds and make them resonate throughout the building. This makes it nearly impossible to pinpoint their exact source. Despite this explanation, the accusations against Woo Sung continue. He realizes that a camera is being pointed at his apartment from the window below. This discovery leads him to believe that someone is trying to frame him.
He then decides to join forces with his upstairs neighbor, Yeong Jin Ho, played by Seo Hyun Woo, to figure out what’s going on. Together, they investigate to locate the source of the noises.
“Wall to Wall” frankly explores the psychological, social, and economic consequences of homeownership in a big city like Seoul. Woo Sung represents those who bet everything on real estate, believing in a better future, but who end up trapped in an unjust system. The film shows how ordinary people can be crushed by a world of speculation, betrayal, and corruption.
