MBC Ignored Late Oh Yoanna’s Plea Over Workplace Harassment Allegations Surface with specific colleagues named.
The suicide note of late MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna, who tragically took her life in September of last year, has been discovered, raising allegations of workplace harassment.

Oh Yoanna, an MBC weathercaster who unexpectedly passed away in September 2024, wrote a 17-page suicide note on her phone on September 15 at 1:05 AM. In it, she detailed instances of workplace harassment by two specific colleagues.
According to the Maeil Newspaper, Oh joined MBC as a freelance weathercaster in May 2021. However, starting in March 2022, she reportedly began experiencing harassment. The colleagues allegedly blamed her for errors they committed and criticized her whenever she attempted to correct inaccurate reports, accusing her of “daring to correct a senior.”
There were also claims that under the pretext of “mentoring juniors,” she was forced to stay late at work, sometimes for over an hour to an hour and a half after her scheduled hours.
When Oh’s appearance on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” was confirmed in 2022, the colleagues reportedly mocked her, saying, “What do you think you’re doing?” and “What could you possibly say on the show?”
Additionally, the late weathercaster was allegedly subjected to long-term criticism about her skills and performance.
The suicide note also revealed that MBC was aware of the harassment but failed to take any action. Before her death, Oh had informed four coworkers about the harassment she was enduring. Despite this, MBC reportedly concluded that there was no need for an investigation, citing the lack of formal complaints about the matter.
