At the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony held on the 19th at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin celebrated winning Best Actress and Best Actor, becoming the first couple to receive these awards together.
Hyun Bin, who won Best Actor for his role in Harbin, went on stage after warmly hugging his wife Son Ye-jin. He expressed his gratitude, saying: “I am thankful. During filming Harbin, I learned and felt many things beyond just the movie. Being here is possible thanks to those who dedicated and sacrificed for our country. I express my gratitude to them for this award.” He added: “When I was first offered the role, I felt the heavy responsibility of portraying the experiences of people who lived through many hardships. I was not confident I could handle it, but thanks to the director who encouraged me to create a meaningful work, I am here today. I am grateful to all the colleagues and staff who shared this difficult journey with me.”
He also said: “I want to thank my family, company colleagues, and the audience for their continuous support. My wife Ye-jin, your presence gives me strength, and I love my son very much.”
Son Ye-jin, who won Best Actress for It Can’t Be Helped, said: “I wondered if I deserved this award, so I did not prepare a speech. I had dreamed of winning this award since I was 27, and today my dream has come true.” She added: “After seven years since my last film, I was excited but also worried. After marriage and becoming a mother, my emotions and perspective on the world have changed. I want to become a better adult.” Showing her love for Hyun Bin and her son, she said: “I will share this joy with the two men I love most: Hyun Bin and my son.”
The couple also shared another joy by winning the Popular Star Award together at the ceremony.
