Global girl group A2O MAY has won their first Rookie of the Year trophy since their debut.
A2O MAY attended the Weibo Music Awards 2025 held at the Beijing National Aquatics Center on the 24th, where they won the Rookie of the Year award.
A2O MAY, who officially debuted last December, is produced by key producer and visionary leader Lee Soo-man, known as a “global cultural pioneer.” They’ve created a new genre called “Zalpha Pop” that fuses the sensibilities of Generation Z and Generation Alpha, and are garnering attention as a new global leader. They’re gaining popularity not only for their solid talent, but also for their captivating visuals and powerful performances.

The WEIBO MUSIC AWARDS is an annual awards ceremony hosted by Sina Weibo, China’s largest social networking service. At the WEIBO MUSIC AWARDS, A2O MAY achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Newcomer Group of the Year award, which is equivalent to this year’s Newcomer Award, proving their high popularity and presence in China.
A2O MAY, who won their first Rookie of the Year award just nine months after their debut, shared their thoughts through their agency A2O Entertainment, saying, “We are truly grateful to receive such a big award at the WEIBO MUSIC AWARDS. We are honored to receive such a wonderful award. We would also like to thank our fans, MAYnia. We will continue to work hard to show you even better performances.”
With their song “BOSS,” in particular, the group broke records for both Chinese female artists and girl groups with just Chinese members by spending five weeks in a row on the Mediabase TOP 40 U.S. mainstream radio chart. On China’s QQ Music, their recently released song “B.B.B (Bigger Badder Better)” also peaked at the top of the daily new song chart.
A2O MAY will release their first EP, “PAPARAZZI ARRIVE,” in October, and pre-orders for the album are currently available.
