Actor Song Seung-heon has lost his mother. He is mourning alongside his family, who are grieving deeply.
Song Seung-heon’s mother, the late Moon Myung-ok, passed away on the 21st at the age of 77.
The deceased’s funeral has been held in Room 17 of the Seoul Samsung Medical Center Funeral Hall, and visiting services will begin at noon that day. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. on the 23rd, with the burial at Seoul Memorial Park and interment at Bukhangang Park.
Song Seung-heon, the youngest of two sons and one daughter, is reportedly listed as chief mourner along with his older brother and sister, and is preparing to greet visitors. His agency, King Kong by Starship, told the publication, “Regarding my mother’s passing, all funeral proceedings will be held privately.”
According to Yonhap News, the mortuary is set up in Room 17 at the Samsung Medical Center Funeral Hall, and tributes/visitation for mourners begin at 12:00 p.m. on September 21.
Song Seung-heon has always expressed his affection for his parents. In 2020, he shared a photo of them from their youth on social media, writing, “I’m happy to be their son. I hope they stay healthy for a long time.” He also expressed his special affection on variety shows, saying, “My mother is more beautiful than my father.” The sudden news of his mother’s passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans.
Meanwhile, Song Seung-heon, currently playing the role of Dokgo Chul in the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama “My Golden Star,” is driving the show’s popularity alongside Uhm Jung-hwa. While the drama had a disappointing 1.3% viewership rating in its first episode, it is now breaking records with a 4.2% rating in its eighth episode.
He had originally planned to hold a press interview on the 25th, following the drama’s conclusion, but has decided to cancel the scheduled interview out of respect for his family. His agency stated, “We ask for your warmest condolences to Song Seung-heon and his family.”
